We are proud to be the only organization in the region offering interest-free loans up to $10,000 for a wide array of needs because people in our community have situationally financial needs that often require a hand up.
This year, Hebrew Free Loan has served more than 350 individuals and families with life-changing interest-free loans. Additionally, we are proud to have a 98% repayment rate, allowing us to recycle our funds to make new loans. We are also pleased to offer free financial education and counseling services through a new collaboration with the Allegheny County Financial Empowerment Center.
As we hear from an increasing number of applicants, many of whom are struggling with the rising costs of living, Hebrew Free Loan is committed to continuing our rich legacy of helping people of all backgrounds maintain their financial stability with dignity.
Below are a few representative examples of people we have helped this year:
- a retiree relying on social security who didn’t have enough money to fix her car
- a single parent needing assistance for his medically fragile child’s specialized childcare
- an individual requiring essential dental work not covered by insurance
- a first-time homeowner who needed to replace a chimney before winter
- a family seeking tuition assistance for their children’s Jewish education
- a domestic violence survivor needing to quickly move to a new home
Your donation supports our efforts to provide loans and free financial education and counseling to hundreds of people each year. And as a borrower repays a loan, that money can then be used fora new loan for another borrower. In this way, a single donation generates many more times its value.
